In Sölden’s superb ski area you can conquer three peak higher than three thousand meters in a single day. About 90 meters above Schwarze Schneid mountain gondola, an energetic pyramid towers in the middle of a larch wood platform, surrounded by a crystal-clear sky and lots of snow on the summit. Thanks to the magnificent 360° view, the panorama reaches over 100 km up to the Dolomites in the south and Zugspitze summit in the north.

Huge snow reserve

Water reservoir at Tiefenbach

Pack your camera and hike to the water reservoir as extraordinary photo moments await you there. The lake, which is 19 meters deep and has an unbelievable capacity of 430,000 cubic meters, resembles a 3.3-hectare emerald pond embedded in the bizarre landscape of Tiefenbachferner’s glacier world at some 2900 meters above sea level. At this altitude, it is the largest lake in Austria. In winter you can easily reach the reservoir via the slopes on your snowboard or skis.

In the Sölden ski area you can conquer three summits higher than three thousand meters on skis in a single day. On a 15 m high pyramid right next to the top station of Tiefenbach mountain gondola, there is a footbridge made of glass that protrudes more than 20 m over the abyss of the glacier. Majestic Wildspitze peak seems to be within reach.

Rosi Mittermaier Tunnel

The Rosi Mittermaier tunnel also connects the two glaciers for cars and takes you from Rettenbach to Tiefenbach glacier and its superb slopes and restaurants. The car tunnel is 1729 meters long and Austria’s highest of its kind at 2829 meters above sea level.

The panoramic Ötztal Glacier Road, which connects the world of glaciers and civilization, is the highest alpine road in the Eastern Alps. The road meanders a full 15 kilometers up to over 2800 meters altitude. James Bond has already delivered a daring chase on this road. However, we recommend that you take it a little slower so that you don't miss any of the magnificent views.

HANNIBAL GLACIER SPECTACLE

Every two years at the end of the season, hundreds of performers, extreme athletes, dancers, snow groomers, helicopters and even airplanes perform Hannibal's historic crossing of the Alps on Sölden’s glacier at over 3000 meters above sea level. The attribute "spectacular" is a real understatement. Just come and experience it for yourself!

WATER RESERVOIR AT TIEFENBACH GLACIER

On Tiefenbach Glacier at an altitude of over 2900 meters, a huge water reservoir boasts a total capacity of 430,000 cubic meters, being also the most important snow reserve of Sölden’s giant ski area – as well as a record holder: it is Austria’s largest snow-making pond at this altitude.
